Without much ado, let’s get started…
Step # 1: Find out the Legalities of Your Locale
First things first, you need to find out if you require any permits in your locality to build and install a shed on your property. Permits come in various forms. There might be restrictions on building a certain size of shed and the like. Once you get to know the legalities, you will be able to better decide the type and size of your shed.
Step # 2: Get to Know the Types of Sheds You Can Build:
There are different types of sheds one can build. However, in our experience, the following three types are the most reliable, exquisite and easy to build:

Lean-to Sheds: As the name suggests, these sheds lean to a wall in your yard. They are usually small to medium sized and are used for storing supplies and tools.

Gable Sheds: Gable sheds are the most popular type of sheds all around the globe. They are exquisite, stand-alone, durable and spacious. These sheds can be scaled from small to huge sizes.

Hip-Roof Sheds: Hip-roof sheds get their name because they have a hip roof. However, they are a bit complicated to work on and are usually best for large size constructions.

Step # 3: Collect the Required Materials & Tools
Now that we know what shed we are building, let’s grab the stuff to put our words in action. You would need standard tools such as a saw, drill machine, measuring tape, hammers, galvanized nails, pressure treated timber, doors and windows. Step # 4: Get to Know the Dimensions of Your 5×10 Lean to Shed:
This 6×10 lean to shed plan comes with a 10 feet width and 9 feet and 4 inches of height. You will be installing a double door in the front that will be of approximately 5 feet and 7 inches in width and 6 feet and 1 ½ inches in height. Note that you can use any door or window for your shed. Just remember to cut out the required space.
Step # 5: Start Working on the Foundation & Flooring
As with any shed, we will start working on the foundation first. Remember, the foundation is the most crucial element of your shed since it holds the entire weight of the structure. Therefore, it needs to be robust. This 6×10 lean to shed plan’s foundation will measure 6 feet in length and 10 feet in width. You will use pressure treated timber for building the foundation and then use tongue and groove plywood for the flooring.
A Few Pointers:

Make sure to clear the area where you intend to set up the shed of any clutter and plantation.

Make sure the area does not have any water logging issues to avoid dampening the timber of the foundation.
Step # 6: Let’s Build the Walls
Once the floor is built, the next step is to build and set up the walls. Use pressure treated timber to build 6 feet and 7 ½ inches high with a width of 5 ½ feet. Nail the joists and skids together using galvanized nails.
A Few Pointers:

Once built, use temporary brackets to set up the walls on the foundation before permanently fixing them.

Use T1-11 siding on the wall structures with galvanized nails.

Carefully cut the area for the door. Use manufacturer’s instructions to set up the door in the wall.
Step # 7: Time to Build the Roof:
Let’s get to the most complicated part of building a shed; the roof. However, with our FREE or PREMIUM plans, we have laid down the process in such an easy manner that anyone can build the roof in a matter of hours.
You will start with building the roof rafters and nailing them together using 3.5 inches galvanized nails. Once the skeleton of the roof is together, you will start adding shingles to the roof.
A Few Pointers:

We recommend using asphalt shingles as they are the most durable and cost effective option.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully to add the shingles in a precise manner. Any gaps left among the shingles can cause unwanted debris or moisture to enter the shed.
Step # 9: Adding Finishing Touches
Now that your shed is complete, you can start adding some finishing touches to it to make it more presentable and durable.

We recommend treating the shed exterior with a coating of paint.

You can also use wood stain to keep it from extreme conditions.

Important: If you are planning to add electrical cables, make sure you properly insulate the shed.
